A virtual ‘eComic Con Live’ is coming to the Middle East
With the threat of COVID-19 still very much alive, many on-ground events are now either postponed or canceled to next year. But the pioneers of pop culture entertainment in the Middle East have joined forces and have developed a new form of entertainment for the community.
Domain Entertainment has partnered with Panache Middle East (who created Comic Con Arabia) and are launching eComic Con Live as a way to help fans enjoy and feel a sense of community connection with like-minded individuals even if it’s in a virtual space.
The first installment of eComic Con Live will feature a live Cosplay Competition where cosplayers will get the chance to show off their costumes during a livestream. A ream of celebrity judges from all around the globe will be choosing a winner with cash prizes on offer.
The eComic Con Live Cosplay Competition will kick off on July 3rd, through a professionally produced live stream, ensuring every participant has its own chance to showcase themselves. The celebrity judges will include premiere cosplayers Michael ‘Knightmage’ Wilson, and Cavin Lam, known for his realistic Spider-Man cosplay costumes.
Arafaat Ali Khan, Co-Founder of the region’s premier pop culture event, Middle East Film and Comic Con and current Managing Director of Domain Entertainment said, “The idea behind eComic Con Live is to bring as many elements of what people love about Comic Cons to an online, virtual space. From artist workshops to celebrity panels, eventually to merchandise and performances, nothing is off the table.”
“The fans have always been the reason we do this, there wouldn’t be a community without their passion and creativity. Top among them is the cosplayers and we thought this would be a great place to start to keep spirits high as we all adapt to deal with the current world situation,” added Arafaat.
